Inspiration Rippling

“This is life people… you got air coming through your nose… you got a heart beat… it’s time to do something”– Kid President

With the final week of the summer school holidays upon us I am starting to feel that anticipation and excitement of our 2015 Programs kicking off again very soon. The break has provided us with time to recharge the batteries, time to reflect on and enrich the experiences/themes that we explore with the participants, and time to make new equipment/resources for the students with whom we work. All this has had me thinking about why our clients, and in particular the Primary School students who we support, inspire us so deeply?

“Children are likely to live up to what you believe of them.” – Lady Bird Johnson

So, we have all heard of the President of the United States of America before, right? But what about Kid President? If you haven’t, here’s your chance to be inspired by one awesome little guy! (And of course the creator of Kid President – Brad Montague) I love what Brad writes on the Kid President website (http://kidpresident.com) as the reason why they are doing what they are doing:

“We’re doing this because we believe kids can change the world. We also believe grown ups can change the world. It just takes all of us working together.”

We at Explore Discover Act believe this too, it’s why we we do what we do as well. But what is also inspiring about Kid President is the challenges that he is facing positively within his own life does not stop him from finding ways to inspire and make a difference in the lives of others. Here’s a short paragraph from their website that explains what I mean:

“Robby, age 10, is my little brother-in-law. He’s full of life and ideas. Robby has Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) a brittle bone condition which has resulted in him having over 70 breaks since birth. What’s inspiring about Robby isn’t his condition, but the fact that his condition doesn’t define who he is. In spite of all he’s been through he not only keeps going – he dances.”

This could be said about each of our journeys really, wherever we are, male or female, or whatever age we find ourselves right now. We may not have Kid President’s particular condition but each of us is very human and no one gets a free ride through life. Everyone though has the opportunity to use their daily thoughts, words and actions to deepen connection and make a difference in their own and others lives, allowing inspiration to ripple out into our interdependent communities from within. This is what delivering our L.E.A.D. with Courage™: Stage 3 Leaders Program reminds us of each and every day, with us having the privilege to experience and feel the inspiration rippling from the many students with whom we work.

“Only where children gather is there any real chance of fun.” – Mignon McLaughlin

So here’s to a fun, connection, potential and inspiration filled 2015 School Program schedule. May we take full advantage of each of our interactions through embodying what it is to L.E.A.D. with Courage™ within our spheres of influence, while we explore the possibilities, discover potential and act authentically.
