Yesterday, Friday the 22nd of March, was World Water Day. This years day falls within the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation, with this becoming the theme being celebrated. Earth is sometimes referred to as the ‘Blue Planet’, with over 70% of its surface being covered in water. As individuals and communities we use water everyday, in so many ways, as demonstrated in the short video attached above. This use and access to clean water can be a very different experience for many around the ‘Blue Planet’, as highlighted through the fact at the end of the video.

Take the time to reflect on your own connection to water and the decisions that are made each day in relation to the ways water is used. Also consider how increased cooperation within the global village could allow for greater access to the fulfilment of basic human needs for all and the challenges we are and will experience if we don’t protect our precious environment.

This photo below is a strong connection that I have to water living on the coast. It is also a reminder that my daily thoughts, words and actions create a ‘footprint’, what that footprint looks like is up to me.
